Hacking House Rules

  • The Smart Sustainable Cities Hackathon 2022 is open to all coders and non-coders alike.
  • All participants must complete the registration process on the impact2050 website.
  • Participants must form groups with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 members.
  • Participants below 18 years old must submit a signed Parental Consent Form and submit them to this email: admin@impact2050.com.
  • After registering, participants must join the “Impact Hackathon Online 2021” Facebook group.
  • On the first day of the event (March 24, 2022), the Hackathon Platform will be launched and all participants are required to register on it.
  • The Smart Sustainable Cities Hackathon 2022 is an on-the-spot coding marathon.
  • This means it requires fresh codes. The event permits designs beforehand such as digital mockups, open source frameworks and anything else available to everyone, as long as the designs are kept within those limits.
  • Participants with projects and codes used in previous hackathons will be disqualified.
  • Make sure to read through our Code of Conduct. Those who violate the rules will be disqualified.

  • Social Impact (30%)Did the team solve a particular problem? Did they articulate the solution to the Jury Board?
  • Relevance to Challenge Statement (20%) – Does the solution directly answer to the problem statement?
  • Business Viability (20%) – Insightful valuation. Is this prototype or MVP (Minimum Viable Product) viable for local business and scaling?
  • Technical Validations, Difficulty and UX (20%)Technically impressive. Did the technology involve Al, Big Data, Interface, etc.?
  • Program Requirements and Presentation (10%)Are the program requirements met? Are they properly presented?

ABOUT IMPACT HACKATHON ONLINE 2021

A multi-year program designed to equip, enable, and empower innovative digital solutions. Believing that a connected society is crucial in today’s dynamic business landscape, Impact Hub Manila is hoping to collaborate with like-minded stakeholders in the joint interest of growing the startup community in the Philippines.

This year’s Impact Hackathon will be in partnership with the first smart city in the Philippines – Cauayan City, Isabela. This 2-day hackathon will be conducted both virtually and in person, where problem statements from respectable partners are hacked by innovators across the Philippines.

This year’s Impact Hackathon Smart Sustainable Cities is designed to address the issues of Cauayan City on Climate Change, Agriculture, Energy, Health, Solid &  Water Waste Management, and Transportation.

Yes, you can still participate virtually.

Yes, you can still participate in the Hackathon. However, you would have to shoulder your transportation and accommodations cost.

As of February 17, 2022, Cauayan has opened its doors to tourists.

There are daily flights from Manila to Cauayan City via Cebu Pacific.

If you are traveling by land from NCR, various bus liners have daily trips to the Province of Isabela.

This hackathon will be implemented in a blended/hybrid format: virtually and in-person. The in-person hackathon will be held in Isabela Convention Center (ICON).

You can still join, we will include you in the platform where all registrants are present. You can look for a team there.

Your startup can join as a team, but you need to be submitting new and fresh ideas, rather something that isn’t already out in the market. The point of the hackathon is to catalyze innovation!  We will be checking if your submission is an already existing startup.

Minimum of 3, Maximum of 5.

The program is welcome to all individuals, coders and non-coders. But, inside your team, there should be at least one who can code.We recommend that a team be made up of people with different skills (programming, marketing, business development)

A total of $100,000 USD worth of support (financial and/or technical) and incubation. 

PRE-HACKATHON

That’s normal. You might get inspired by our different learning sessions leading up to the Hackathon, or in talking to other participants involved.

Learning Sessions will be posted on our YouTube Channel after, so that participants can refer back to them.

HACKATHON PROPER

We will use the Slack workspace for faster communication, and to connect our participants to mentors. All announcements, reminders, and requests for/questions to mentors will be posted here.

The Hackathon  Platform is where all participating teams will be submitting their projects. Judging and deliberation will be done through here and only projects submitted through this platform will be considered. Submissions through Slack, email, or any other means will not be accepted.

You’re welcome to make your own channel on our slack for your team to communicate, but you’re also free to communicate through your own channels,

No. Given that it’s an online hackathon, your project will be considered as long as you submit on the platform on or before the deadline. However, you are encouraged to attend our learning sessions, and reach out to our mentors

We will release all the specific problem statements in each vertical prior to the first day of the hackathon!
